Sustainability
Here at The Four Bells Glamping, we care about protecting and conserving the resources that all life need.
Solar Infrastructure
A big impact of many businesses, is their electricity usage and where this energy comes from. We operate a fully off grid solar system, including storage batteries that allows us to operate all of our units, our office and kitchen facilities. We have no external power feed, so you can rest assured that you are helping to protect the environment during your stay. Since opening, The Four Bells Glamping has generated and saved over 6000kWh of energy via Solar since opening, which powers everything from Fridges to Phone Chargers and everything in between!
As of the time of writing (03/06/26) 2026 – 1065kWh
2025 – 2284kWh
2024 – 2092kWh

Sustainably Sourced Wood
All wood on site is either from our local farmers managed woodland all within a mile of our site, with replanting a key stage of their process, or fire briquettes provided by the UK-based Bedmax ltd (Detchant, Belford NE70 7PF). The fire briquettes meet Woodsure ‘Ready to burn’ standards and give an efficient and clean burn, providing up to 9Mj/KG more energy output than seasoned hardwood. The process also utilises wood shavings and dust to minimise waste from their horse bedding production, resulting in an incredibly clean production cycle and trees being planted to replace those used. Further details on Hotmax Briquettes and their recycling programme can be found here: https://www.hotmax.co.uk/recycling/
Wildlife Protection
We are very fortunate to have 3 acres off land on which we operate, over half of which is wild meadow allowing for a range of wildlife to call our site home or use it as a safe means of travel between neighbouring land. The local fauna and flora offer an amazing opportunity for guests to witness and appreciate the diverse wildlife that Suffolk has to offer.
At our site we have a thriving population of Rabbits, a family of Red Kites, Squirrels, grass Snakes, Field Mice, along with passing Deer, Badgers, Foxes and game fowl.
Locally Sourced
All the products in our Breakfast and BBQ hampers are sourced within a maximum of 9 miles. Working with our local suppliers allows us to reduce travel costs and fuel usage, minimising the mileage of our products.
Reducing and Managing Waste
We operate recycling bins on our site so that guest waste can be effectively separated and efficiently recycled. Any dry recyclables and Glass is split from general waste and ample bins are supplied to prevent litter spreading to our local environment.
